New York Knicks trade rumors: Could Kevin Durant be a Knick?

OKC's Kevin Durant is expected to test the free agency market by the Summer of 2016 and this early a lot of teams are making plans to try and net the 2014 NBA Most Valuable player.

From all indications, Durant is expected to do the same thing that Carmelo Anthony did during the last offseason. It will be recalled that Melo did visit Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston to see what they had on the table. Anthony eventually chose to stick it out with the Knicks.

Could this be the same scenario for Kevin Durant?

Practically all teams with the available salary cap are expected to make a run at the reigning MVP. Teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Brooklyn Nets and of course his hometown Washington Wizards. But one team that is aggressively doing preparations are reportedly the New York Knicks.

According to a report from the NY Daily News on the possibility of going after Durant:
"Phil Jackson and the Knicks have until July 1, 2016 to get their house in order and here's something Jackson and the legions of long-suffering Knicks fans — are there any other kind? — can latch onto: The Knicks are in play.

"No question about it," says a person close to Durant. "Kevin loves Carmelo (Anthony). It could work in New York. But never rule out the Thunder."

The Knicks are in the rebuilding stages and multi-titled coach Phil Jackson is the chief architect behind it all. But as to whether he could convince KD to come to Gotham is still anyone's guess since Durant did mention before that he loves Oklahoma City and that he would do what is best for him.

"I'm going to do what's best for me," he said last summer. "It's hard to talk about that right now when I've got two years left in Oklahoma City."

With many teams interested in getting the reigning MVP, the Knicks are in for a tough battle to try and get him to come on board. At the moment, it is safe to say that all teams are on equal footing as far as netting one of the versatile NBA superstars the league has today.
