Netflix news: How profitable has the service become in 2017?

A new year has dawned upon us, and fans and loyal viewers of the streaming giant, Netflix, may be wondering just how lucrative the business has been in the past year -- perhaps, in a curious attempt to assure themselves that the streaming service is not going away. As it turns out, the company, as big as it is, is still growing, with its stock values going up, proving that the risks and strategies that they have implemented have been right on the money.

In just last year alone, the streaming giant was able to grow the investments of its stockholders by as much as 60 percent. This is nothing but good news for those involved in the company, as these numbers reflect on the positive projections leading to 2018. In the past, investors and financial analysts have questioned the streaming service's decision to put money back into the company, despite Netflix having a steady stream of income and a sizable library.

It is currently estimated that Netflix has over 110 million subscribers around the world, and that number will continue to grow in the coming years at a constant and consistent rate. The rate of growth in subscribers has not declined despite the increase in subscription, which occurred back in October last year. The expected number of new subscribers for the fourth quarter of 2017 was estimated to be at around 6.3 million.

As the old addage states, numbers do not lie. Compared to other streaming competitors such as Alphabet and Google, Netflix still leads the pack in terms of financial and stock growth -- and 2017 may be its most lucrative year since 2011.

As reported by iNews, in England alone, it is estimated that the people had spent £1.9 billion just on digital subscriptions alone -- from Netflix, Amazon, Sky, Google, and Apple. This is a very good example that the trend of digital services is truly a lucrative market from a financial perspective.
