Today, "Need for Speed" players can now officially say goodbye to the infamous rubber-banding issue, which for some reason makes AI cars magically keep up or almost go past players from out of the blue. With the first and new patch called Icons dropping today, the issue will finally be eliminated.
"We've been reading all of your feedback on this, watching your videos and tuning in to your live streams. With all this feedback in mind we have made changes to the AI behavior which should improve your overall experience," Community and Content Lead Ben Walke wrote in a blog post.
The Icons update also gives "Need for Speed" players access to ongoing and upcoming Community Events from the Menu screen. These events come in three types, which will respectively be of great help in various aspects of the racing game.
Players can join Bonus cash events to increase their stash in the game. Those who need more game items can opt for Discounts events, which should help lower the price of the materials on offer. Bonus REP events, just like the name suggests, will endow gamers with more REP.
The first event called Performance Matters will be open to "Need for Speed" players on Friday. There, gamers will be able to take advantage of the 15 percent discount on all performance upgrades, which should allow racers to save money for other items while they enhance their cars.
Thanks to the Icons update, two new additional cars will be for the taking – Ken Block's Hoonicorn and Morohoshi's Lamborghini Diablo SV. To make those cars look even better, a whole host of customization options were added.
These include neon lights, mirror decals and 30 additional pre-set wraps. To make the racing more competitive and cutthroat, developer Ghost Games added new Daily Challengers as well as new Trophies and Achievements to accomplish. Also, the Reputation cap was increased from 50 to 60.
