With the NBA regular season coming to a close, the New York Knicks are expected to be closely monitoring the free agents they can get their hands on. And while a lot of them are surely be on the eliminated squads, there is one who has signified his interest in joining the ballclub.
Demarre Carroll, a 6-foot-8 forward who is best known as a defender and a three-point threat, bared that he would be open to joining the Knicks should the opportunity arise. Though he still has to take car of unfinished business with the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs, Carroll is expected to be among the players who will be sought out once the free agency period begins.
Carroll has been around since 2009 and is someone who has surely captured the attention of NBA teams. And at the top of that list seems to be the Knicks whose head coach, Derek Fisher, has his eyes on the Hawks' small forward.
Carroll and Fisher are no strangers to each other. Both worked in California before and his scrappiness and defensive prowess would be a great fit to the Knicks who could do well with a role player of his caliber.
With most players focusing more on the offensive end, Carroll has carved a name for himself as a defender. Selected 27th in 2009 by the Memphis Grizzlies, Carroll has played for several teams already. That includes the Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Denver Nuggets and the Utah Jazz. Could the Knicks be next in line?
As far as Carroll is concerned, he doesn't mind joining the rebuilding Knicks. However he did add that he will leave it all to his agent, Mark Bartelstein.
One thing that could also make his destination to New York imminent is the fact that Bartelstein also manages three players who are already there. They are Tim Hardaway Jr., Lou Amundson and Jason Smith.
But again, the first order of business is to do as much as he can with the Hawks. Being the number one seed, the Hawks have a great chance of making it at least up to the Eastern Conference finals.
Should Carroll make a good account for himself, his market value stands to skyrocket all the more once NBA Free Agency comes around.
