NBA Free Agency news 2015: Kevin Durant already linked with multiple teams

The 2015 NBA Free Agency period should be closing any time soon with most high profile names either opting to stay with their team or moving to another ballclub with of course higher pay.

There were of course a lot of winners and losers and chances are that most of them will be at it again next year. And who could possibly be the hot commodity next year? Kevin Durant.

Durant is expected to be the top name that many teams will try to snag though it wouldn't be surprising if the OKC Thunder end up trying everything to keep the prized forward and former NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP).

But aside from the Thunder, multiple teams have already been linked to the high scoring forward. The list includes the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards. Though it remains to be seen which of the mentioned teams would have the inside track, chances are it would take a lot to woo Durant out of Oklahoma.

The Lakers of course promise fame and fortune though Mitch Kupchak and the Buss family may want to place more emphasis on the basketball direction of the Lakers next year (remember the LaMarcus Aldridge boo-boo?)

The Knicks could be a destination though not that hot, while the Mavericks could use the succeeding of Dirk Nowitzki angle to lure Durant.

Washington gives Durant a chance to return to his hometown, not to mention pair up with a deadly backcourt in John Wall and Bradley Beal. But something which could entice Durant is a chance at the NBA title. Would any of the teams have that inside track?

If no then Durant could probably be best off staying in OKC. With a new coach and hopefully new direction, much of that can very well depend on how the Thunder perform this season under new head coach Billy Donovan.

If the Thunder can equal or do better than their 2011-12 NBA Finals appearance, chances are Durant will remain a Thunder. If not, expect him to test the free agent market. That practically sums up what Durant could possibly turn to since for most players, an NBA title is the next best thing to a fat contract.
