Among the features that "NBA 2K16" will boast is the NBA Summer League. It's been a while since it was featured in the long-running, widely popular franchise, and now 2K Sports has confirmed its glorious return via Twitter, encouraging gamers to prepare for their future.
In the real sport, the Summer League is an off-season league where players who weren't drafted to a team, such as free agents, secondary players and rookies, play and train to boost their skills. Notably, games here last 40 minutes instead of the usual 48 minute-run.
The last time the Summer League was featured in the video game franchise was back in 2011. Here, the gamer's MyPlayer character simply lounges around until he gets picked by a certain team. It remains to be seen if this will be the case in "NBA 2K16" as well.
2K Sports simply announced the inclusion of the NBA Summer League. It is surmised that it will end up exclusively in the MyCareer mode and that, upon its return, it will also bring along the NBA D-League. As the release date inches closer, more information about this feature should become accessible.
Meanwhile, "NBA 2K16" is also touted to have the "most extensive" soundtrack in all of "NBA 2K." But instead of an artist to curate the library, DJ Premier, DJ Khaled and DJ Mustard, who will serve as the producers for the soundtrack, will cherry-pick the songs to be featured.
There will be 50 songs all in all, six of which are exclusive to the game. All these songs will span all across the music genre from hip hop to pop to rock and alternative. Songs from the '80s, the '70s and the most popular hits today will also be represented.
Each producer will have their own playlist to segment. There will also be an "Around The World" international playlist as well as a 2K Classics Mixtape containing fan-favorites from previous iterations of the game and a master playlist with all 50 songs. All in all, that's six in-game playlists.
As of this writing, confirmed songs include "Blitzkrieg Bop" by The Ramones, "Represent" by Nas, and "I Want You to Know " by Zedd (feat. Selena Gomez).
"NBA 2K16" will be released on Sept. 29.
