Despite the rise of friend and teammate Russell Westbrook, it doesn't look like Kevin Durant is leaving his buddy and the team anytime soon. In fact, he may be starting and ending his career as a Thunder.
Durant has been the center of attention by a lot of people, particularly once he becomes an unrestricted free agent in 2016. And while teams like the Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to the reigning NBA Most Valuable Player, seeing him change his postal address looks quite bleak.
Durant bared in a recent TV interview that he loves Oklahoma City and doesn't see himself moving out any time soon. He likewise stressed that he prefers to stick it out with one team for the rest of his career.
That bit should be good news for OKC management and their fans, somehow easing the tension of seeing the high-scoring forward move to another team. Capping that interview was Durant mentioning that he wanted his jersey to be retired in OKC.
With that said, teams who were hoping to convince Durant to join them may find their efforts futile. Despite all of this, expect teams to make their pitch just the same towards the NBA star.
Durant is currently in the sidelines and may not see any action for the rest of the season. He underwent successful foot surgery and will be out for four to six months, possibly right in time when the next NBA season unfolds.
Despite Durant's claims of wanting to stick it out in OKC, it may not necessarily be 100% in the bag. There are a lot of things that could happen come free agency and you can bet that teams will offer Durant crazy and insane offers just to get his attention.
Once that happens, it will be interesting if Durant changes his mind. It has happened before and Durant is certainly no exception.
