NBA 2015 news: Andrew Bynum plans to return next season

Things haven't exactly been kind to Andrew Bynum after his stint with the Los Angeles Lakers and his troublesome knees are not helping.

NBA fans barely got to see Bynum in the current NBA season but that hasn't hindered the 7-footer from making any future plans of playing once more.

Of course many are skeptical given his injuries and outside court activities which have seen Bynum's career take a big dip. But if there is one place where Bynum can perhaps get his act together, it may be in New York.

With Phil Jackson leading basketball operations and Derek Fisher calling the shots, it could be a homecoming of sorts for Bynum who had his best years with the Lakers alongside Jackson and Fisher.

With the Knicks in need of a big man in the middle, Bynum could be a good choice. Though not perhaps as a starter for now, Bynum could revive his career and get back on track.

But a lot may depend on how healthy the 7-footer is. After the Lakers, Bynum went to the Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and the Indiana Pacers. However, Bynum was more of a liability to those teams which pans the question on will Bynum shape up mentally and physically under Jackson and Fisher.

Taking a one-year hiatus places some questions on how fit Bynum is. And despite being a key guy under Jackson before, the Zen Master is expected to place due consideration on how fit Bynum really is.

Hence, if Bynum wants another shot at reviving his NBA career, the Knicks are perhaps the only team willing to take that risk. Some may call it a long shot but given his forgettable history, Bynum has limited options at making an NBA comeback.

So will Jackson and Fisher give Bynum a try? It all depends on how fit in practically all aspects Bynum is and of course who the Knicks snag at the coming 2015 NBA Draft and Free Agency period.
