A host of brand new gadgets will be shown off at the Mobile World Congress — one of the most important events in the tech industry — starting March 2. There is a lot to see in the event as tech companies reveal the handsets and wearables they worked hard for.
One of the most anticipated unveilings will happen a day ahead of the MWC and it is that of Samsung's. The Samsung Galaxy S6 has not left rumor mills since the tech firm from South Korea started developing it. It is said to pack an Exynos processor, a hefty 3 GB RAM and a 5-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display. The handset has a variant named Galaxy S6 Edge, which will come in a curved display.
Another handset the tech community is itching to get its hands on is the one from HTC. An aluminum-clad and a front speakers-donning HTC One M9 looks to share the spotlight with the Samsung flagship tomorrow. The forthcoming gadget is a beautiful upgrade to its predecessor, the One M8. Expectations are high on this one since the HTC One M8 is touted to be one of its best. A larger version of the One M9 called the One M9 Plus as well as the tech giant's new wearable, codenamed HTC Petra, are expected to show up at the MWC as well.
Lovers of the technology are also pining for the Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet, a 10-inch ultra-thin, high-resolution gadget with a speedy Snapdragon 810 processor. The tablet will come with the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua but details about this one are hard to pin down. Nevertheless, the world will see these devices as early as March 2.
Microsoft is also onboard the MWC with its new Windows phone offerings. The tech firm is rumored to introduce a RAM-upgraded Lumia 635 and the Lumia 1330, a 5.7-inch successor to the Lumia 1320 with 1 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera. The Redmond-based firm is also expected to show off new software as it aims to bring its services to Android and iOS.
The LG G4 was once speculated to come out during the event. However, the company is choosing to take the covers off a new smartgear called Watch Urbane LTE. The cloak on this one is still tightly tied up, and so is the one on Acer smartphones that will put in an appearance in Barcelona. Blackberry will not miss the show as it will bring the BlackBerry Z20 to the stage, its new 5-inch handset that sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 with 1.5 GHz dual-core Krait CPU and 2 GB RAM as well as an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Chinese manufacturer Meizu is introducing its triple OS-running MX4. This upcoming device runs Flyme 4.0, the new YunOS and the Ubuntu Touch. Huawei, on the other hand, will get things off the ground with its new 5.2-inch smartphone called the Ascend P8.
Talks in the event will be from Pebble founder and chief executive Eric Migicovsky and Google Head of product Sundar Pichai.
The Mobile World Congress will be staged in Barcelona from March 2 to 5.
