Motorola seems to have found the Android 5.1 Lollipop update sane enough for first generation Moto-X users hence the reason behind the release of the OS update for select countries.
Several owners of the Moto-X are reportedly getting the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop update though it looks like the United States is not one of them. Regardless however if it is already available or not in US waters, the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update for the Moto-X as far as the ones in the US is concerned could eventually follow suit.
On what to expect, some of the perks that the Android 5.1 Lollipop for Motorola users includes that of the Moto Actions, Moto Display and more as far as Motorola features are concerned. This is outside the usual Android 5.1 Lollipop updates will bring for phones by default.
Aside from the aforementioned Motorola enhancements, the Android 5.1 update will also offer Moto X users the flashlight gesture feature.
The said update will also signal a big jump considering that the Moto-X is currently running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Android 5.1 carries a lot of changes which include major bug fixes and performance improvements.
Reports have it that the Lollipop update has initially started to roll out in Brazil. The latest update is of course important but is believed to be still undergoing testing. Hence, the update could be hitting smaller regions first before Motorola deems it fit to be released to a wider scope of Motorola users.
Though there is no 100% guarantee that the update would be bug-free, it is expected to cover previous issues and deliver the necessary improvements that other phone brands have already witnessed.
Hence, it would be advisable for Moto X users to keep tabs on their OTA notifications since the Android 5.1 update may already be available.
