Building block versions of one of the most popular families on television will soon shake up the massive "Minecraft" world. As if the game is not fun enough, a Simpsons-themed DLC pack will soon be made available for Xbox One and Xbox 360 players to enjoy. According to Christian Post, Microsoft and 20th Century Fox jointly announced the inclusion of the family from the long-running animated comedy last week.
"We have an active community of more than 17 million die-hard Minecrafters on Xbox Live enjoying the wide range of downloadable content on Xbox, and they have been clamoring for us to bring Simpsons characters to the game," Xbox Division Head Phil Spencer said in a statement.
"By launching Simpsons on Minecraft Xbox 360 and Xbox One versions, we open more creative ways for people to express their ideas. They have always been creative and our partnership with 20th Century Fox opens up something new for them to meddle with. I really can't wait to see what they come up with once the skin pack rolls out to everyone. It should be awesome, we can say."
Apart from the fan-favorite family of four (Homer, Bart, Lisa and Maggie), there will also be 19 other characters (all hailing from Springfield Elementary School) to be included in the downloadable skin pack. Many speculate that three of these people will be Nelson, Milhouse and Ralph. The new DLC pack will arrive in late February and it will only cost $1.99. Ordoh noted that pricing may vary in other regions and currencies.
"Minecraft" is loved by gamers across the world. Proof to that are the recent world titles the building game just broke. There are a dozen of categories it championed and IGN enumerated them: Best-Selling Indie Game, Largest Indie Game Convention, Most Popular Game Beta, Most-Viewed Fan Film Based on a Video Game, and Most-Played Xbox Live Game.
For now, only Xbox consoles are said to get the pack. Information regarding other platforms should arrive soon.
