As it stands, there is still no official word from Microsoft regarding the development status of their latest power-user 2-in-1 laptop, the Microsoft Surface Book 2. The highly anticipated device was expected to have been unveiled during the various events Microsoft had been attending, but the company continues to keep mum about the device's development.

Now, new reports have revealed that the laptop may be unveiled next month during a big unveiling event, together with the company's new Surface Pro 5 and even possibly alongside the rumored new Microsoft Surface Phone. If the new Surface Book 2 will indeed be unveiled next month, there is a very big possibility that the device won't become available to the public within the year. Given that there are only a few months left in the year, the laptop may become available to interested buyers in early 2017 .

Several reports have also revealed that there might be another underlying reason for the delay. The laptop itself is expected to come with Intel's latest generation processor, the Intel Kaby Lake. The processor; however, is scheduled to launch sometime during the end of the year, which means that Microsoft may have to hold off releasing the new Surface Book 2 if they want to incorporate the new chips into their device. The new generation chip is reportedly going to be significantly faster that the current generation Skylake micro architecture-based processors, but at the same time it requires less power.

As of the moment, reports and claims regarding the Surface Book 2 laptop being unveiled next month are still mere speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt.

Microsoft has yet to verify any of the rumors, but with October just right around the corner, it will only be a matter of time before any of the hearsay is proved correct.
