Microsoft 1030 release date: Smartphone with 50mp camera not happening?

The fortitude of fans awaiting Microsoft's heavyweight handset known as the Lumia 1030 may unfortunately be to no purpose. Even though the device, codenamed McLaren, has gotten the attention of tech enthusiasts, it seems that the premium smartphone will remain fictional in the next months.

Although Microsoft will not skip the Mobile World Congress in March next year, a Lumia flagship appearance in the occasion can be counted out this early. As per IB Times, new phones are not on the cards for the titanic software firm until September 2015. Furthermore, speculations reveal that Microsoft will simply go for mid-range phone releases by that time, allowing its flagship lineup to horde cobwebs before the firm gets it pepped up. Also, it is purported that only a refresh in the 6-series is in the pipeline and the company's flagship unveiling is nowhere near the horizon. IB Times added that devices known as RM-1069 and RM-1110 are in the works.

Franchise Herald added that the rumor indicating the inclusion of the 50-megapixel rear-facing camera is not going to happen.

Although leaks support the claim, Senior Verge Editor Tom Warren debunked the speculation on Twitter, saying "There is no Lumia 1030 right now. The leaked device is the canceled Nokia McLaren. It was never a 50-megapixel camera, just around 20MP."

It's been a while since Microsoft released a flagship. If rumors prove to be true, Windows Phone fans that wait for it to come to pass are burdened with even more waiting. In addition, keeping up with its rivals that plan to release high-end smartphones in the first quarter of next year will leave Microsoft on the block. GSM Arena, as cited by IB Times, believes that the importance of catering to each region of the market is at the utmost. Thus, with Microsoft reportedly centered on delivering mid-range offerings, its reach will not extend.
