Michael J. Fox news: To appear in 'Designated Survivor'

American actor Michael J. Fox has been confirmed to make an appearance on the upcoming episodes of the ABC political thriller television series "Designated Survivor" season 2 after the winter hiatus. The former "Back to the Future" star is already set to play a key character on the show, and will make life a little bit more difficult for U.S. president Tom Kirkman, who is played by Kiefer Sutherland.

According to reports, Fox has been chosen to play the character of Ethan West, a Washington lawyer who is hired by President Kirkman to investigate the case of former President and Secretary of State, Cornelius Moss, played by Geoff Pierson. Moss is allegedly guilty of leaking classified information, which is the reason why he is being investigated.

However, West is also a conniving with an ambitious person who is intent on forwarding his self-interests and can make very unpredictable decisions. These characteristics make him a threat to the plans, vision, and work of President Kirkman. The premise of Fox's character is certainly interesting, but as of now, he is only slated to appear as a special guest in five episodes of season 2. It is still unclear if his character will stick around longer until season 3.

Although Fox has not been getting lead roles due to his health issues, it has not stopped him from excelling in supporting roles. In fact, he had been given three Emmy nominations for his work on another television show, "The Good Wife." His most recent television appearance was in "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which is an HBO comedy series starring Larry David.

Given Fox's popularity and his penchant for acting, it is quite possible that he could get an Emmy nod for his appearance in "Designated Survivor" as well.

"Designated Survivor" will return for the rest of season 2 on Feb. 28 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
