Miami Heat NBA 2015 draft news, rumors: Looking for a shooter

The Miami Heat will be selecting 10th in the coming NBA Draft and the team is reportedly on the prowl for rookies with a Klay Thompson-like touch.

The Heat are looking to spread the floor better which would allow Dwyane Wade and Goran Dragic (if he re-signs) to penetrate more. Apparently this was something that Heat lost when Ray Allen did not re-sign. The Heat's outside artillery was severely handicapped, making it hard for Wade and company to do their work inside.

There is no word on whether the team would explore the free agent market but before that, the team could skim through the rookie prospects available. There have been a lot of names in mention though it remains to be seen if any of them are what coach Erik Spoesltra and president Pat Riley are really looking for.

Here are some of them.

D'Angelo Russell would have been it. Though it may be a long shot since Russell of Ohito State would likely be taken in before the 10th, he would have been a perfect fit. He can play inside and hit the long bombs which would have made him a perfect fit.

Justise Winslow is another prospect but like Russell, could be out before it would be the turn of the Heat. Winslow has a decent jumper and can rock the rim as well.

Mario Hezonja of Barcelona could be a candidate, owning a soft outside shot from the three-point region. There is no telling how high he could go but the Heat could hope for the best.

R. J. Hunter from Georgia State could fit the bill. Hunter has had the knack of hitting the big shots and does have a three-point arsenal to his credit.

Sam Dekker of Wisconsin is another prospect, someone who has a good shooting range and a modest 33.1 percentage from the three point region.

Whoever they get to pick, the Heat are obviously going for a shooter. If not in the NBA draft, they could make a go at other free agents or join the Jimmy Butler sweepstakes if they are lucky and have the salary cap space.
