'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain' patch 1.03 update fixes Quiet bug on PS4 and PC

 Konami

When Konami launched "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" almost two weeks ago, fans were ecstatic as the title seemed to live up to its hype. However, as days went by, those who already played past the prologue stages of the game found one glitch that is serious enough to warrant developer Kojima Productions and publisher Konami to quickly investigate and develop an update. Now, patch 1.03 is already available to address the issue.

According to an announcement from Konami, the bug has already been fixed for the PC and PlayStation 4 versions of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain." Meanwhile, there is no word yet on when the update will come to the other platforms, but Konami promised the update will be completed "soon."

The glitch, dubbed as the "Quiet" bug, stemmed from players using Quiet as a companion in missions 29 and 42 of the game's main story. Quiet is one of the companions whom players can order to accompany them on missions. The character is an experienced marksman and, depending on the mission parameters, can be quite useful on the battlefield. Other companions include a horse and the canine D-Dog.

The glitch includes simple corrupted saves that makes players resume on a black screen and start the mission from where they saved last. Some players reported that instead of ruined saves, some files got so corrupted that the game halted at that point, prompting players to start from scratch – starting the game altogether.

Aside from the "Quiet" bug, patch 1.03 – coming in as a 435 MB download – also addressed various other glitches in "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain," including one in the tutorial wherein the game crashes when players choose selection controls during troop training.
