Memphis Grizzlies NBA 2015 draft news, rumors: Greg Oden could be considered?

Is Greg Oden set to make another comeback?

The Memphis Grizzlies are reportedly considering the former number 1 pick and will be giving the injury-prone center a chance to play once more in the NBA if he passes a workout set for the Spring.

Oden was the first overall pick by the Portland Trailblazers in the 2007 NBA Draft. However, his troublesome knees have kept him from rising to fame.

Oden had a chance to rekindle his career when he was signed up by the Miami Heat in 2013 but alas, the former Ohio State University standout still failed to get his career off the ground.

Nothing has been heard of about the 27-year-old 7-footer but another chance could come with the Memphis Grizzlies. The team is set to reportedly invite Oden to the team's veteran free agent camp in June, a move that is seen as a security of sorts since Marc Gasol and chief reliever Kosta Koufos are set to be unrestricted free agents.

Of course, Oden's invite does not mean that he will be signed up on the spot. Further, the interest in Oden can be seen as a backup plan as the team is expected to retain the services of Gasol. Unfortunately the same cannot be said of Koufos. Anything can happen.

Also, it would be wise to note that it would all depend as well on how Oden can impress the Grizzlies before thinking about contracts. Oden cannot demand for the sky right now, seeing his career plagued by injuries and not-so impressive numbers to boot.

If Oden does impress, then both camps will have to sit down and talk about a deal. For now, the Grizzlies are the only team seemingly interested in the 27-year-old center and given the opportunity, Oden may want to consider it as a stepping stone towards rebuilding his forgettable NBA career but with less money on the table.
