Mariah Carey returns to perform for 'Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve'

American song bird and diva, Mariah Carey, is looking to be part of one of the biggest New Year countdown events, "Dick Clark's New Year's Rocking Eve." Along with the singing icon will be Ryan Seacrest, who will be hosting the event with her as viewers and New Yorkers anticipate the countdown until the beginning of 2018. This is quite surprising news, especially since Carey turned in a less than stellar performance at the same event just last year.

It was made official last Friday, Dec 22, that Carey will indeed be performing once again at the Dick Clark Productions New Year's Eve special. According to the statement released to Entertainment Tonight, "We can all agree that last year didn't go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration."

It seems that Dick Clark Productions is looking to redeem themselves this time around, and it is safe to assume that Carey is sharing the same purpose as well. Carey even posted on her official Twitter page a GIF to promote the event. She aptly captioned the tweet "Take 2."

Looking back at what happened during the 2016 New Year's Eve performance of Carey, there were some technical difficulties while she was singing. Eventually, this led the diva to stop altogether, since she could not hear herself through her earpiece. This led to a feud between Carey and Dick Clark Productions, wherein both parties threw the blame at each other for the "disastrous" New Year's Eve performance that transpired.

Carey's manager even speculated that Dick Clark Productions did not immediately rectify the situation by cutting abruptly to commercial break, accusing the production of wanting to gain viral infamy to bolster their viewership. Whatever the case may be, it seems that both parties have been able to put the past behind them — and fans should expect something truly incredible from Carey this time around.

Carey is scheduled to perform at 11:45 p.m. EST on Dec. 31, in time to welcome the New Year.
