South American promoters are suing Mariah Carey for cancelling a couple of concerts in the region back in 2016. That is after the singer sued them first.
About two years ago, the promoter, called Fenix, arranged for the "We Belong Together" crooner to bring two legs of her "Sweet Sweet Fantasy" tour for one show in Argentina and another one in Chile. However, Carey pulled out without giving a valid reason.
According to documents acquired by TMZ, Fenix is suing the musician for $3 million for cancelling the show and laying the blame on them. The Blast reports that the promoters are asking $500,000 for each of the missed shows and $2 million for a tweet that Fenix claims defamed its company.
In a Twitter post from October 2016, Carey said she was devastated by her canceled shows in three South American countries. "My fans deserve better than how some of these promoters treated them," she added.

Based on Fenix's counterstatement, however, the company is claiming it had paid the singer about 75 percent, or $703,100, of their agreed amount for her South American tour, which was the standard operating procedure based on previous deals with Carey's team.
Fenix claims the real reason the "Against All Odds" singer canceled the rest of her tour was because of the low ticket sales from her three previous shows in Brazil.
That is opposed to the documents filed by Carey and her Mirage Entertainment team in January 2017. They stated that Fenix forced them to cancel the shows when they failed to provide sufficient payment.
According to court documents acquired by E! News, Carey was entitled to full payment. Her team also requested for unspecified damages and court costs. Carey's case against the South American promoters is still ongoing.
