Margot Robbie expresses gratitude for success in Hollywood

Australian actress Margot Robbie spent last Saturday, Jan. 27, at the G'Day U.S.A. Los Angeles Gala, wherein she received the award for excellence in film, specifically the Oscar entry "I, Tonya," a film about former figure skater, Tonya Harding. Robbie was evidently grateful for receiving the award, and in her acceptance speech, she stated that working in the entertainment industry in Hollywood had been one of her long-time dreams.

In her acceptance speech, the 27-year-old actress stated that she moved to the United States because of the vast opportunities that it can offer her. She revealed that her efforts to relocate have proven to be fruitful, and that she has been able to buy her own home and establish a lucrative work base in the land of milk and honey.

However, she did not forget to mention her homeland, Australia, stating they were taught in class that it is a "lucky" country, indicating that she feels indebted to her home country. Despite her love for Australia, she still iterates that her calling was in the United States. Additionally, Robbie could not help but feel that her efforts parallel that of the character she played in "I, Tonya," where Harding also traveled to another country for better opportunities.

According to Robbie, her closest friends and immediate relatives who got to watch "I, Tonya" were impressed by the film, and have showered her with praises for her incredible performance.

Coincidentally, after the Australian premiere of the film, she was informed of being nominated  for an Oscar for "I, Tonya" — and is still in disbelief. Robbie stated that being nominated for the prestigious award is something that she had dreamt of even when she was a little girl, and now, that dream has officially come true.
