After Apple failed to show some MacBooks at the recently concluded Let Us Loop You In media event a few days ago, fans are now eagerly anticipating that new and thinner 13-inch and 15-inch laptop models will show up in June or July during or after the company's Worldwide Developers Conference.
The highly speculated 13-inch and 15-inch MacBooks may look similar to the current 12-inch one. It is also believed that the upcoming models will slightly be thinner than the existing one, as DigiTimes reported.
Incidentally, the report also stated that several laptop manufacturers, Dell, Lenovo and Asus, are allegedly cooking up their own recipe to produce ultra-books to compete directly with the upcoming ultra-thin MacBooks.
The upcoming models of the MacBook are said to sport an Intel Skylake processor, Thunderbolt 3 port and the Retina display. The current 13-inch MacBook Pro that was released in early 2015 still has the Broadwell architecture processor while the 15-inch model refreshed in mid-2015 still contains a much older Intel chip, Haswell. So putting in a Skylake chip is only appropriate. Another plus side for the latest processor is that it's a little bit faster yet offers better power management. The current 13-inch and 15-inch laptop models are already equipped with Force Touch trackpads, better GPUs, faster flash storage and better battery life, so there should be minimal changes in those areas for the upcoming ones.
Many also believe that a cosmetic tweak may already be coming to the upcoming MacBooks. The design has generally been looking the same for the past three to four years for the 13-inch and 15-inch variants of MacBook Pro, while the 13-inch MacBook Air has been looking the same way since the day it was launched back in 2010. Consumers might want to see something new, even aesthetically.
The new 13-inch and 15-inch MacBooks will only arrive in the Pro line, according to the rumors.
