After the success that the psychological thriller film "Split" has received, director M. Night Shyamalan is looking to be right on track with his career. Recent reports have confirmed that his plans to make the film "Glass" has already been greenlit and has in fact already begun shooting. The movie will serve as a sequel to two of Shyamalan's films namely "Unbreakable" and "Split."
In a report by Star 2, Universal Studios, Buena Vista, and Disney will be sharing the responsibility of distributing the movie globally as well as domestically. The studios have taken part due to "Unbreakable" being a property of Disney, while "Split" is Universal's. "Glass" has already begun filming in Philadelphia, which seems to be Shyamalan's favorite spot for his movies. The plans for "Glass" was initially teased earlier in April.
"Glass" will be uniting the separate narratives of "Unbreakable" and "Split," as suggested by the ending of the latter. At the end of the movie, it is shown that Bruce Willis, who plays David Dunn, sees the news and gets wind of the existence of James McAvoy's character, Kevin Wendell Crumb – a man who has dissociative personality disorder, 23 personalities to be exact.
According to Forbes, Disney had given Shyamalan the go signal for Willis' last minute cameo. "Split" made a sizable amount of money, which is estimated $414 million dollars, with only a $9 million budget. It is safe to say that Shyamalan has gotten his groove back, since his relevance has returned after churning out consistent movie hits. In a report by Movie Web, the success that "Split" had received was unprecedented, and that there is definitely a lot of anticipation from horror fans for the sequel.
In a report by Entertainment Weekly, the story will revolve around David Dunn pursuing Kevin Wendell Crumb, who has become a threat to society after he turned into "The Beast." As the title suggests, Samuel L. Jackson's character, Mr. Glass, could also be reprising his role. It could be possible that Mr. Glass may know vital information about the two characters.
"Glass" is scheduled to appear in theaters everywhere on Jan. 18, 2019.
