Liverpool looks to make Raheem Sterling have a hard time leaving the club as the Reds currently rejected a £25 million bid from Manchester City.
According to Sky Sports, Man City's bid also included around £5 million in add-ons.
Sterling has turned down a £100,000-a-week deal offered by Liverpool a number of times with his agent saying that the 20-year-old would not re-sign with the club even if they offered him a £900,000 per week contract.
The English winger still has two years remaining in his contract with Liverpool and club manager Brendan Rodgers already said that he expects him to stay.
Along with Manchester City, Sterling has been linked to Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid but interested clubs must prepare a hefty bid since Liverpool reportedly wants £50 million for him.
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard already expressed his thoughts on the situation and prompts Sterling to stay with Liverpool to continue his development.
"I think there's a position there for him to be the number one player in the Liverpool team and really have that adulation from supporters that the likes of Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres have experienced," Gerrard said in a report by BBC Sports.
"I don't want to see him go to another team and just become a squad player and just another number in the team, I think he deserves to be playing every week," he added.
Besides Gerrard, former Liverpool striker John Aldridge also voiced out his thoughts regarding Sterling's current situation and blamed the young midfielder's agent.
"The way he has gone about handling the situation with Raheem is pathetic. He is better off where he is and his agent should see this. I feel sorry for the lad," Aldridge said in an interview with BBC Radio 5 live.
The fans are already expressing their dismay on Sterling as he received boos from the crowd when England took on Ireland in Dublin during the weekend.
