LG Watch Urbane news: 2nd Edition LTE watch now on pre-order on AT&T after being pulled out in November

Those who were interested in getting their hands on the LG Watch Urbane LTE a few months back can actually start dreaming of it again. AT&T has started taking pre-orders for the second edition of the said smartwatch, which is an improved version. The watch can't get any better when paired off with the upcoming LG G5, also being offered by the carrier.

The LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE smartwatch had some hardware issues a few months back, and it was decided that it would be pulled out of the market. It was said that the wearable's day-to-day functionality was affected by the problem.

The smartwatch is available for US$359.99 for outright purchase and no contract. Since the watch needs its own cellular connectivity, it requires its own SIM card. For a 20-month contract, it will be US$18.00 a month, which will bring the final cost to US$360.00. Subscribers can also avail of a two-year contract for US$199.99 with no additional monthly fees. However, a US$45 activation fee is required.

For those planning to also avail of the LG G5 with the said carrier, customers will be shelling out US$100 for the watch, and pay an extra US$10.00 a month for the data plan. Meanwhile, "well-qualified customers" can have the LG's modular smartphone starting at US$22.97 a month under AT&T's Next 24 plan, as CNET reported.

Android Authority added that the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition will be running its own Android Wear OS but will be compatible with AT&T's NumberSync. NumberSync is a service offered by the carrier where the smartwatch's SIM will be able to receive calls and SMS messages coming from the SIM on the regular phone.

The LG Urban Watch 2nd Edition has its own 4G LTE connection, which gives its wearer the option to leave their main phone behind for activities that do not really require one, like working out or walking their pet dogs. The watch offers a 1.3-inch P-OLED round touch display enclosed in a stainless steel case and offers protection against water and dust. It is IP67 certified and can withstand a meter deep of water up to 30 minutes and can stay powered up for a whole day with its 410 mAh battery.

AT&T will start shipping the LG smartwatch by the end of March.
