Asian-American point guard Jeremy Lin could very well end up with the Dallas Mavericks amid rumors that both sides are close to striking a deal.
Lin played for the Los Angeles Lakers and didn't quite hit it off with Kobe Bryant and head coach Byron Scott. Though many teams were apprehensive about signing the Asian-American because of his contract, the NBA Free Agency fever has somehow changed all that, as teams try to work within their respective team salary budgets.
Lin stands to be a good fit for the Mavs, especially since he is a pass-first type of a player who will most likely blend in with head coach Rick Carlisle's system.
The Mavs are looking for a point guard to add to their roster after the departure of Rajon Rondo and Monta Ellis. Should the Mavs land Lin, it remains to be seen if he can actually pick up from the Linsanity years he had with the New York Knicks.
Lin hasn't really hit it off since leaving New York, and there were earlier rumors suggesting that the Harvard University standout could eventually return to the place he had called "home."
Apparently, the Mavs are aggressively trying to move up front and all that should be cleared come Thursday, July 9, when teams and players start signing contracts.
Lin, who averaged 11 points and 4.6 assists for the Lakers, could eventually join holdovers Raymond Felton, Devin Harris and JJ Barrea, who have reportedly agreed to sign on with fresh two-year deals.
Lin believes that he is a perfect fit for the Mavs, and with players like buddy Chandler Parsons, Dirk Nowitzki and Wes Matthews around him, it could actually work.
DeAndre Jordan may also be there, but latest reports have it that the big man is having second thoughts and may return to the Los Angeles Clippers.
