Jeremy Lin news 2015: May have to settle for back-up role

Jeremy Lin is not expected to be back in Los Angeles once free agency kicks off and things aren't exactly looking bright for the 26-year-old Asian American.

After failing to hit his stride in Hollywood which was further aggravated by criticism coming from Kobe Bryant and Byron Scott, it seems obvious that Lin may have to look for a new team. However, his salary could be a problem. He made $15 million in his final year with the Lakers.

However, it doesn't seem likely he would be getting that much from any other team if he intends to keep on playing in the NBA. With other big named point guards also available in the market, Lin may find himself on the tail-end of available free agent guards before the next season. Worse, he could be relegated to a supporting role if ever he does latch on to any team by next season.

Lin has been hampered by injuries and has seen a constant dip in his performance. Those are other factors that may be included in evaluating his worth which puts Lin in a tight spot. From the looks of it, Lin may be left with little options and could be forced to agree to a lower salary for the time-being.

The best thing that Lin could do right now is sort of start once again and work his way back to the top. Many say that Lin was overhyped though Lin has proven he could still render some semblance of Linsanity if given the chance.

A best bet was that rumor involving him with a former mentor in Mike D'Antoni. Though there is no word on whether any team would hire D' Antoni for now, there is a chance he could be named the head coach of the Denver Nuggets.

Should that happen and if Ty Lawson does leave, there could be room for Lin in Denver. However, it may be advisable not to expect a large salary – that is if Lin is inclined to continue playing in the NBA.
