iPod Touch 6th generation to release after Christmas?

Up to this date, the iPod touch 6th generation remains as nothing more than fiction. Rumors and chitchat either breathe new life to the device or bury it deeper into the ground. It also does not help that Apple is being a little too silent about its plans on the compact media player lineup. So at the moment, only speculations and wishful thinking determine the existence of the iPod touch 6G.

Strong speculations suggest that the gizmo will be making an appearance in the near future. That "future" is set to unfold shortly after the holiday season sweeps out. Stabley Times, as cited by Latino Post, believes that Apple is enjoying the big sales and demands on its flagship smartphones, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, at the moment, which leaves no time for the giant Cupertino-based company to stage an unveiling for the alleged iPod touch 6G.

Specs details include the integration of an A8 processor and 1 GB of RAM. Design & Trend adds that the new iPod will mirror the iPhone 6 minus the calls and the sizeable screen. Stabley Times disagrees, saying that the big size will be the media player's asset to score more sales. In addition, vibrant colors could be caked in the device's body to attract the younger portion of the market. Latino Post also reported that Retina Display will find its way to the device and so are a dual-core A5 processor, a radio app and a larger storage capacity. There is also buzz on the inclusion of the Touch ID and Apple Pay.

Conversely, these are the very reasons the iPod array is rumored to be completely ditched by its maker. Integrating the same set of features as the iPhone 6 only renders the media player insignificant. Furthermore, smartphones in the arena can handle the functions and everything the media player does, so its hard to find a reason why consumers wouldn't opt for the more capable and high-powered smartphones instead.

With all the rumors contradicting each other, it feels like the iPod touch 6G is nowhere near the pipeline. But should Apple decide to revive the collection, many expect it to happen by 2015.
