Everybody thought that when Apple decided to release its first full-sized offerings in the form of the well-received iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the Cupertino-based company will go on with it. Now rumors suggest a sudden backpedal, meaning the tech giant would reportedly go back to releasing the small-sized handsets they were first known for.

The current bigger phones may be a mere interruption to titanic company's usual not-so-big smartphone lineup. Word on the street is that Apple is on the move for an iPhone that will sport a screen that measures only 4 inches. The news came from a Japanese site called Feng, which claims that the tech firm is resolving users' alleged issue about its most recent and biggest iPhones being all-too burdensome. It is said that with another diminutive smartphone on the way, users will bid farewell to the problem they are not used to experiencing, and will finally be able to actually grip and use the phone easily with just one hand.

However, various tech outlets remain lost in the logic behind this stunt should Apple ever pull it off. The iPhone 6 and its bigger sibling are a big success, as Tech Times reported. As per iDownload Blog, the smartphones even smashed and trampled sales records. With its initial rollout, Apple only took a weekend to sell 100 million units with no trouble. The only dilemma the company ran into was producing a gargantuan supply enough to provide the world's demand of their latest offerings. 9to5Mac added that large-screened phones are getting all the rage, so launching one that is in direct contrast is already out of question. But if the issue is about the unwieldiness of the new handsets, 9to5 Mac said that Apple already got that covered with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus' "reachability" feature, wherein users have to double tap the home screen to slide into everything the users would like to access without hassle.

Tech Times and iDownload Blog have not discounted this possibility though. The tech sites reminded its readers about Apple's unpredictability in its releases, such as when it surprised the world with the release of the iPhone 5C. So it's not difficult to think that the company may be in the midst of another bolt from the blue anytime soon.

This currently fictional 4-inch handset is expected to come out next year. Whether it will turn up or not, enthusiasts can turn their attention the much-awaited debut of the Apple Watch just as the new year unfolds. Lastly, rumors regarding the advent of the iPhone 7 or the iPhone 6S will finally be put to rest in 2015.
