iPad Pro 2 release date, specs, rumors: A10X processor leaks predict crazy power and performance

The iPad Pro 2 is expected to be powered by the A10X processor, the next-generation chipset from Apple that appears to be the most powerful one yet.

Tucked in a job description of an Apple engineer (spotted by The Motley Fool) are details about the processor, which will definitely excite fans who are waiting for the new iPad Pro.

It was stated that the processor going to give the iPad Pro 2 "exceeded power and performance goals while simultaneously adopting new process technology and design tools."

The new process technology is believed to be the 10-nanometer architecture, the most advanced one yet, and one that is more powerful compared to the 14nm used by a majority of mobile processors, including the A9X processor.

With such amount of power, it will be no wonder why the iPad Pro 2 will be a beast in the hardware department, by providing speedy performance and an overall smooth experience.

A Geekbench benchmark test by TechTastic bears proof of that, with the A10X processor churning out an impressive 4236 score in the single-core test and a whopping 6588 on a multi-core test.

These results blow out of the water the A10 processor (in the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus) with its score of 3490 and 5580 in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

The iPad Pro 2's A10X processor is expected to be manufactured by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), as revealed before by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

With the A10X processor, the iPad Pro 2 is poised to be one of the most formidable tablets when it rolls out early next year.

The device is expected to come with a 12.9-inch display and a brand new variant with a 10.5-inch screen. Both will have the A10X processor under the hood.

On the design department, users should not expect much as Apple is saving up the big cosmetic changes for the 2018 version of the iPad Pro.

What fans can expect is a much more functional Apple Pen, which is expected to allow annotations on the majority of the applications on the iPad Pro 2 and not just on specifically-developed ones.
