iOS 10 release date: Apple expected to unveil features at WWDC 2016

iPhone SE Apple

Apple is believed to be unwrapping the 10th iteration of its mobile operating system at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference happening on June 13 to 17 in San Francisco, California. Word on the street is that iOS 10 will not have many differences from its predecessor in terms of looks, but it is beneath the surface that many have changed.

Hide default apps

It is believed that users will have the option to hide or remove certain native applications on the upcoming iOS 10. AppAdvice reported that it contains options to possibly hide or delete certain programs. Currently, Stocks, Compass and Voice Messages have this option.

Rootless security system

Not welcome news for jailbreak aficionados, but it has been rumored that Apple is developing ways to make their future iOS impossible to hack. Know Your Mobile mentioned that the company has developed a new security feature that will prevent any alteration to its mobile operating system. The rootless iOS prevents even administrator-level users to tinker with certain parts of the system. However, it is speculated that the said security feature can be bypassed through the desktop OS.

Contact status

iOS 10 is rumored to make users aware when their friends are available or not. This feature can determine if a certain contact's iPhone is set on an airplane mode or not. It does sound a bit intrusive, but the report mentioned that this might contain a disable option, for both parties.

iCloud Voicemail

Business Insider reported that Siri will soon be able to take the users calls, record them and transcribe the message they contain and send send a text message to the callers.

Additionally, the company is also speculated to be releasing the full SDK for Siri. This will allow third-party developers to create custom actions for Siri toward their own apps. Apple Pay is also expected to receive some changes and improvements.
