Although the new gear system to be introduced in "Injustice 2" will result in "unbalanced" competitive play, fans do not have to worry about their opponents being much more powerful due to the loot from this gear system.

This is what NetherRealms Studios marketing manager Brian Goodman emphasized during his conversation with Eurogamer, where he talked about one of the biggest changes in "Injustice 2."

"We're creating modes where it's an even playing field and you can gear up for aesthetic reasons but your character stats are on an even plane," Goodman explained.

"We also have modes where gear actually impacts your strength, which is a whole new level of strategy," he went on to say, adding that "Injustice 2" will also implement matchmaking that pairs up players of the same level.

Goodman also pointed out that hyper-competitive tournaments will still allow players to showcase the customization they made on their characters through the gear system.

However, there will still have to be even playing fields. "That's essential for true fighting game aficionados," the marketing manager pointed out.

For those who do not know, the new gear system on "Injustice 2" basically allows players to receive rewards after every game depending on their performance in the match.

Goodman pointed out that the new gear system is not all about the customization it offers, although that aspect of this feature addition is geared towards hardcore fans.

NetherRealms added the gear system for casual fans as well, since it will allow them to "elevate" themselves "without having to be the greatest fighting game player out there."

This makes playing "Injustice 2" more rewarding, "palatable," and also more engaging even to those who are new to the universe or to those who are not serious about playing.

"You may not be able to go online and beat 90 per cent of players out there but you can have the coolest-looking Batman. You can show off the fact you have put hundreds of hours into a character," Goodman said.

"Injustice 2" will be released sometime next year.
