It looks like Marvel won't be making an "Inhumans" feature film after all. The company has announced that they are going to team up with ABC and IMAX to make an eight-episode TV series that would bring Black Bolt and the rest of the Inhuman royal family to the small screen.

The series will be called "Marvel's The Inhumans" and the first two episodes of the series will premiere in IMAX theaters in September 2017, before it moves to ABC. The show will be shot entirely with IMAX digital cameras, and IMAX will also be financing the development of series, which is a first for the company.

"This first-of-its-kind multi-platform production, distribution and marketing agreement brings together Marvel Television's unique brand of entertainment, ABC's unparalleled audience and IMAX's brand and global fanboy demographic," IMAX CEO Rich Gelfond stated.

"It also takes our decades-long relationship with The Walt Disney Company to a whole new level, jointly breaking new ground in the industry. We are confident our exhibition partners will be excited to work with us on this innovative launch of a series across the IMAX network," he added.

Hopefully, the unprecedented partnership between the three companies will allow the show to have a higher budget so they can pull off Medusa's tougher-than-steel hair and a CGI Lockjaw.

The Inhumans have already been part of ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." since its second season, but the audience has yet to see major players like Black Bolt. Fans won't be getting an "Inhumans" movie, but a TV series may actually be better. A report on The Verge has pointed out that means there may be crossovers in the future between the two shows.

The feature film was originally planned for a 2018 release, but it was pushed back to make room for "Spider-Man: Homecoming" before it was officially removed from Marvel Studio's release calendar.
