Indianapolis Colts roster, injury news 2015: Andrew Luck out for two to six weeks with lacerated kidney

The Indianapolis Colts find themselves having to make do without quarterback Andrew Luck for the next one and a half months, with reports that their star quarterback has been taken down due to lacerated kidneys.

Luck is believed to have acquired the injury after the Colts game against the Denver Broncos last weekend. While the Colts did win that one, 27–24, it came at a stiff price.

The incident happened in the fourth quarter as Luck went from the pocket but got met by Danny Trevathan and Vance Walker. It was one of the most punishing hits that Luck has endured since arriving in the National Football League (NFL) back in 2012, someone known not to go down, slide, or throw the ball.

Tough as nails, the Colts and fans were used to seeing Luck come out of such physical plays in a jiffy, but the case is simply not the same this time around.

Although he did help getting back up, the toughness of Luck showed when he went back to work even after that brutal hit, highlighted by an eight-yard touchdown to Ahmad Bradshaw which proved to be the crucial points of the match.

But all that may have been a result of adrenalin since Luck felt a whole lot worse when he arrived at the team facility last Monday. It was at that point when they sent him to undergo tests, which determined that Luck was suffering from a lacerated kidney and a partially torn abdomen. He is not expected to require surgery for it.

While the initial belief is that he will be out for two to six weeks, it could be longer. There is no actual timetable in place but in his absence, Matt Hasselbeck may have to step up to the role and fill in the big shoes of Luck.
