HTC One M9 revenue earnings plummet

HTC has been known to release impressive phones but it looks like that list would now exclude the HTC One M9.

After company revenues showed a drop of 38%, way worse if compared to the company's performance last year, the HTC One M9 is seemingly being singled out as the culprit.

Technically it is not the phone as a whole but traced more in detail to the Snapdragon 810 processor that it runs on. The revenue drop is the worse that the company has experienced in the last six years.

Why the Snapdragon 810 processor? Well the processor from Qualcomm does have its issues, a thermal issue to be exact. However, it seems quite broad considering that there have been no official reports of overheating thus far when tied up to the HTC One M9 units.

Hence, the overheating issue may be a dark history that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor has been carrying around. Just last week, it was rumored that LG has opted to pass on the Snapdragon processor for its LG G4.

The LG G4 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor.

Tim McDonough, marketing head for Qualcomm shot down these allegations, claiming that LG actually opted for the Snapdragon 808 over a year ago. He considers the rumors as 'rubbish'.

The Snapdragon 810 processor is also being used by LG but for the LG G Flex 2. The LG G Flex 2 was actually the first device to come out with the Snapdragon 810 processor. McDonough states that the overheating rumors were falsely addressed out, something he believes is a business sabotage tactic which is but normal.

In fact, he believes that the overheating issue is something mythical. This is because the Snapdragon 808 and 810 are practically similar (on paper).

The Snapdragon 810 features a memory designed to deal with 4K video which the 808 doesn't have.

So with that said, is the Snapdragon 810 processor a fall guy for the dismal showing (in terms of revenue) of the HTC One M9. If so, why did the HTC device fair poorly and fail to rack in the revenue.
