HTC One M9 update: New leaks show camera samples, device to get U.S. developer edition and One M9 Plus variant

More details and leaks are now jumping out for HTC's next flagship smartphone. According to tipster @upleaks, the HTC One M9 will come with a Developer Edition, which will be limited to solely to the U.S. As expounded by GSM Arena, the model will have no SIM and should be carrier and bootloader-unlocked.

Meanwhile, image leaks that bear HTC One M9's camera samples are also making the rounds. The snaps look to be originating from the pre-production of HTC handsets with model numbers 0PJA13 and 0PJA10 (the latter is said to be of the rumored HTC One M9 Plus).

GSM Arena detailed that the photos allegedly captured by the future devices were shot in 16:9 but at 5376 x 3024 pixels. This is 112 pixels more than what the Sony 20.7-megapixels IMX220 sensor offers (5264 x 3960) as this is the unit speculated to be loaded onto the device. The site deduced that the photos may either be of another HTC smartphone or the upcoming device may not be shipping with the Sony 20.7-megapixel camera at all.

On the other hand, Gotta Be Mobile has gotten a hold of images of the HTC One M9's backside. These pictures show that HTC stayed away from the duo-camera and went for a formidable primary camera for the One M9. The site immediately assumed that a Sony 20.7-megapixel is indeed what the company went for. In addition, the images seem to debunk the rumors about a 5.5-inch One M9, according to the same site. The One M9 in the photo shows that it stuck to 5 inches just like its predecessor. However, the site added that the leaks have yet to be corroborated so they should be taken with a grain of salt.

As for the purported HTC One M9 variant, AnTuTu has revealed the alleged specs of the bigger flagship. According to GSM Arena, which echoed on the site's claims, the large device will pack an unexciting Qualcomm Snapdragon 801, which trails behind an awful lot of smartphones in the field. It is also set to feature a PowerVR G6200 GPU and Mediatek chipsets namely MT6595 and the MT6795 clocked only at an unimposing 1.95 GHz. Lastly, the leak suggested that the HTC One M9 will come with a Quad HD display, which the tech site believes to be the reason the future offering will even drop back behind the Xiaomi Mi3 that only houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.

In the middle of tons of leaks, HTC keeps it lips tight. The company may, after all, be staging a complete shocker as it is heavily expected to introduce its new device to the tech community in March, during the Mobile World Congress. More leaks and rumors should arrive soon and most of which will be put to rest before long.
