HTC One M8 to get Android Lollipop 5.1 update in August

HTC One M8

HTC's One M8 got its Android 5.0 bump back in January but it seems that it will get another update this August 2015 with reports of an Android 5.1 Lollipop rollout.

This was revealed through Twitter by HTC UK, announcing that the HTC One M8 will be getting the Android 5.1 update together with Sense 7 on August 2015.

The previous Android 5.0 update did bring the new Materials Design, lock screen and enhanced privacy features though the next update could address bugs and issues which Android 5.0 may have brought or failed to fix.

Aside from the much acclaimed performance improvements, Android 5.1 stands to bring new features such as added device protection and HD voice for compatible devices.

However it seems to be the Sense 7.0 UI that many may want to look forward to. HTC plans to roll out the update not only for the HTC One M8 but all its 2014 handsets. At the moment, Sense 7.0 is only present in the HTC One M9.

So what is the big fuss about the Sense 7.0 UI? The feature adapts to the user's behavior and brings features that include the Morning Bundles. With the said feature, top news and user's personal agenda of the day pop up when they access their phone at the start of the day.

Other features include the Restaurant Bundle (which as you would guess makes suggestions on nearby restaurants that depend on meal times), a smart launcher widget (something which shows apps based on the phone's location and usage patterns) and the new Sense Home app.

That and a whole lot of other features could be in store for HTC One M8 users which will hopefully be able to provide a better and reliable Android OS.

Again, the expected date of release is this August so be sure to watch out for it.
