Word on the street is that HTC is working on another flagship, this time for its One E series. Initially dubbed by the Internet as HTC A55, the high-grade-specced handset was discovered to be the HTC One E9.

The brand new device from the Taiwanese manufacturer serves as a variant of the One M9. Their main difference starts with the screen. The HTC One M9 is rumored to come with a 5.0-inch display, which makes the One E9 its bigger brother with a hefty 5.5-inch Quad HD display.

Under the hood is a MediaTek MT6795 chipset coupled with an octa-core A53 Cortex processor set at 2.0 GHz. This looks to be a bit inferior to the One M9 but its memory is on par with the device — a strapping 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage.

Like the HTC One M9, the forthcoming handset has a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera along with a 4-megapixel UltraPixel front-facing shooter for the ultimate selfie fix. According to GSM Arena, there will be models with a 13-megapixel front snapper in select markets.

The HTC One E9 is also promised to don the beautiful fusion of the HTC Sense 7 UI and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The device also comes with dual-SIM support. The purported M9 variant will emerge in the coming days if the statements dropped by HTC America CEO Jason Mackenzie during the MWC 2015 come to pass.

"When I look at the flagship [HTC One M9], I see we're building the most premium device, but I can't stop there," Mackenzie declared. "We have a huge announcement in middle to late March around extreme differentiation between Samsung and the iPhone. It solves key pain points."

Recently, alleged snaps of the handset made the rounds. The discovery from those leaks imply that the HTC One E9 will be a budget-friendly counterpart of the HTC One M9 that is housed in plastic body and equipped with BoomSound speakers.
