HTC Butterfly 3 specs, features, and release date: Smartphone to pack larger 2K display

As far as HTC is concerned, focus is on the launch of its flagship phone, the HTC One M9. But it seems that this is not the only phone that is set to come out this year with leaks of another high end phone in the HTC Butterfly 3.

The HTC Butterfly 3 rumors came about after user @Upleaks made some tweets which seemed to point to an HTC Butterfly 2 successor.

To recall, the Butterfly 2 was previously likened to a predecessor as well in the HTC One M8. Among the differences that could be noted for the Butterfly 2 is that it made use of a plastic body and that it was a device that was only available in Japan.

The HTC Butterfly 3 will of course come with changes and the most notable one would perhaps come through its display. The Butterfly 3 will come with a slightly larger 5.2-inch WQHD display, an improvement from the previous 5-inch screen that the Butterfly 2 had.

However aside from that, there has been no mention of the other specs to expect for the Butterfly 3. For the sake of comparison, may expect the specs to be better than the previous HTC Butterfly 2. To recall, here are the actual specs of the HTC Butterfly 2 carries:

  • Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset
  • Adreno 330 GPU
  • 2GB of RAM
  • 16/ 32 GB of internal storage
  • microSD card slot for up to 128GB
  • 13MP rear camera
  • 5MP front-facing camera
  • Runs on Android 4.4.2 Kitkat
  • Li-Po 2700 mAh battery

Given the previous specs of the Butterfly H2, those detailed above could be bumped up especially the CPU, chipset or even the cameras.

The HTC Butterfly 3 is reportedly set to come out by the second half of 2015 so official specs could be leaked in the next couple of months.
