'House of Cards' season 4 spoilers: Frank Underwood to die?

Frank and Claire Underwood in House of Cards Netflix

New spoilers about "House of Cards" season 4 have fans worried about Frank Underwood's fate. This is after a report emerged that the Netflix series is religiously taking after its 1990 U.K. series counterpart of the same name, down to the antihero's demise.

Frank's counterpart in the original series is Francis Urquhart, who was assassinated in the midst of a crumbling political career and just after the show's third season. Interestingly, Frank is also in the same predicament after his wife Claire left him while preparations for the elections are ongoing.

This led fans to believe that "House of Cards" season 4 will depict the death of Frank Underwood. If Netflix is following the 1990 original dutifully, it won't be a surprise seeing Frank biting the dust in the upcoming season.

Previous spoilers hint that in the new season, the head of state's life will spiral out of his control. It is being said that Claire, who was once the other half of a political powerhouse with Frank, will go up against him for presidency and ultimately become his biggest nightmare.

However, there exist conflicting reports that claim Claire and Frank will be back together to re-establish their image as a happy married couple. To do so, they will even adopt a child to show the world a portrait of a picture-perfect family.

In addition, "House of Cards" season 4 will reportedly need them together to tackle former Chief of Staff Remy Danton and Assistant House Minority Jackie Sharp, who will allegedly be working on securing greater power for themselves in the new season.

Also, there are also talks about Neve Campbell's character being one of the couple's biggest adversaries this season. It remains unclear what role she will take on but media outlets believe that whatever the nature of her character will eventually bring Frank and Claire in each other's arms.

"House of Cards" season 4 premieres February next year.
