'Hart of Dixie' season 5 cancelled or renewed? Could be a yes or a no

In December 2014, "Hart of Dixie" season 4 premiered. Since then, there's been talk that the show will get cancelled after the fourth season and won't go on further to a fifth. But what are the chances that the series will be renewed?

Zap2it TV made a report about which shows will get the ax and which shows will push forward. For "Hart of Dixie," Zap2it gave it only two smiley faces. This means the show has a chance of getting cancelled. Further, the report indicated that getting "Hart of Dixie" off the air won't do much change in The CW's schedule.

However, The CW and the cast of the show themselves seem to have a different story. For the network, there's no reason to pull the plug on "Hart of Dixie" since their viewership increased to 13 percent.

Stepping up to the plate to defend the show is actor Scott Porter, who said that there's no cancellation yet.

"We aren't canceled. We haven't gotten a phone call from anybody at the network. But, if this was the end, then I think we all wanted to just pay it its proper due. I would love to come back and be a part of Bluebell again - and there's a chance - but we really need the support of the fans to be able to come back. If people don't watch, then shows don't come back, so we just need a little help," he told Yahoo! TV

Porter further explained the reason why they only shot 10 episodes. That is because Rachel Bilson was giving birth and they couldn't shoot without her.

On the other hand, actor Wilson Bethel looks more ready to say goodbye to the show, if this is, indeed, their last season.

"If this is the final season of 'Hart of Dixie', the show is left in a really good place ... It's really satisfying and I think that's part of the reason the cast were feeling like this could be the end," Bethel told Yahoo! TV.

"Hart of Dixie" season 4 will return on Jan. 16 on The CW.
