There is enormous excitement surrounding the purported single-player downloadable content (DLC) for "Grand Theft Auto 5," but the latest reports suggest Rockstar Games is not pushing it through.

The developer reportedly canceled the project, which has been rumored and looked forward to by gamers for quite a while now, in favor of an online map expansion for "GTA Online."

This is according to a GTA Forums user who provided accurate information on the release of the "Bikers" DLC that was released last month.

The tipster said that Rockstar canned the "GTA 5" single player DLC because of the "unforeseen success of micro transactions and GTA online in general."

Instead of the "GTA 5" single-player DLC, "GTA Online" is reportedly getting the Liberty City map expansion in September next year. It will allegedly be the size and the price of a full game.

The GTA Forums tipster said that the Liberty DLC will allow players to trade on the stock market after purchasing an office. The expansion will also reportedly be released alongside a North Yankton map and the Los Santos Casino "to keep player migration relatively balanced."

According to Gaming Bolt, "GTA 5" is unlikely to get single player content as Rockstar continues to direct its focus on the online mode on the game, which they have been expanding with all sorts of new goodies in the recent months.

In addition to that, it is also reported that another map expansion will be released in October 2018. This one is called San Fierro and Las Ventures, which will also have a price tag as big as that of a full game.

After that, Rockstar is expected to go full-time on "GTA 6," which means that "GTA 5" might not get any more DLC. Thankfully, the developer has released tons of add-ons on the game that will have players busy for a while.
