Another unexpected exit from one of the cast members of the long-running television show "Grey's Anatomy" has just recently occurred. Fortunately, the show's creators were quick to respond regarding the exit of the Kiwi born Martin Henderson, who played Dr. Nathan Riggs. Shonda Rhimes explained just how integral Riggs' exit was going to be in the evolution of Meredith Grey's character, played by Ellen Pompeo.

In a report by TV Line, the show's main creator, Rhimes, stated that Meredith has already been through a lot of struggles in her love life – with one of them ending in the tragic death of Derek Shepherd, played by Patrick Dempsey. At this point in the story, Rhimes thinks that it is not quite the right time for Meredith to be lured into a tale of romance after such a traumatizing experience.

Meredith should be more introspective this time around, and not live her life according to a love interest. Additionally, Nathan's character was written off on good terms with Meredith, with a high possibility of returning to the show, whenever Henderson sees fit. Rhimes' explanation regarding this makes sense, and according to Pop Sugar, she has shown audiences just how strong and independent she can be as the series progresses.

Meredith even gets awarded for the Harper Avery award, which is the most coveted award in the world of "Grey's Anatomy." Despite showing that she can make significant strides in the world of medicine, fans are still hoping that Meredith finally fills the void in her romantic life. In a speculative report by Movie Fone, they have stated that perhaps, the next best partner for Meredith is a passionate foreign doctor.

After all of Meredith's achievements, perhaps an equally successful doctor from another country might just catch her attention.

"Grey's Anatomy" season 14 episode 7 will air on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
