'Grey's Anatomy' season 11: Doctors work together in the face of an 'unfathomable crisis' in 'You're My Home'

"Grey's Anatomy" writer Shonda Rhimes just can't get enough of bombshells. As if Derek Shepherd's sudden death isn't enough, the "ruthless" writer, as actress Bellamy Young described, has cooked up another shocker for the season 11 finale of the long-running medical drama, which was already picked up for season 12.

Titled "You're My Home," the final episode for the season holds another tragedy for the emotionally-burdened doctors of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Although it was said to be another "unfathomable crisis," the synopsis promises a silver lining, one that entails the doctors' eventual grasp of what really matters and what magic working together can bring.

This early, there is no way of knowing what the predicament is or how it will change the team but there are some speculations that the doctors will be dealing with a pressing life and death situation, which involves a car accident victim, who relies on them for his dear life. It sure feels like "Grey's Anatomy" is giving them a chance to save someone in the face of the terrible situation Derek was once in.

Although McDreamy did not survive it, at least another will and that these mourning doctors will be able to do what should have been done to their friend, which may, in turn, ease the pain.

Also, it will be a way for them to settle their differences, move on from the past and start anew. For one, season 11 may end with Amelia and Meredith working together. The former is angered over the fact that the latter did not give her a chance to bid her brother farewell.

On the other hand, ABC President Paul Lee has revealed that season 12 won't be the last of "Grey's Anatomy." The series is headed to a new run and that run does not have the finish line yet. He was quoted as saying that he "would like to see [it] run for many, many years to come." Part of the show's newfound breadth is that it "is written by one of the best writers in television."

"I know she has great plans for next season and many years beyond," Lee said.

Rhimes couldn't agree more and simply tweeted, "Why would it be the final season?"

The finale of "Grey's Anatomy" season 11 will air May 14.
