Gold Mario amiibo release date March 20

 Walmart

Nintendo is making the Gold Edition Mario amiibo exclusive to Walmart. Collectors who are pining to get the special action figure will have to rush to one of the 3,000 Walmart stores across the U.S. on March 20 to snag themselves a Mario in gold. Walmart.com is another place to get it, that is, if one was fast enough to pre-order it. It only took mere minutes for Walmart to get the $12.96 amiibo out of stock, taking into consideration the retailer giant limiting two purchases per household.

Of course, the Gold Mario amiibo will be back in stock. For those who want to be the first to know when that would happen, they can have Walmart notify them through email by activating the "Get in Stock Alert" offered by the retailer.

If the precious action figure, which, by the way, will work with any title with amiibo support, is just so impossible to come by, buyers can set their eyes on the "Mario Party 10" amiibo bundle instead. This includes the new title as well as a "wave" Mario amiibo. Buyers can pre-order it on Game Stop and Best Buy for $59.99 at this moment and get the bundle when it is released on March 20.

"Mario Party 10," which will also hit shelves on March 20, is the first of its franchise to make it to the Wii U. It offers a new amiibo Party mode, where players can use new amiibo poses and models — apart from its bundled Mario figure — of Luigi, Yoshi, Peach and Bowser. There is also a brand new Toad amiibo, which will work along with Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker.

Just recently, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse amiibo was out and allowed players to unlock unique powers of a certain character once a day. Gamers can draw out the Star Dash power from Kirby or attack bonuses from Meta Knight.
