The script work for "Frozen 2" is underway with Jennifer Lee, who took the writing duties in the original film, which went on to become the highest-grossing animated film of all time, back on the job.

Lee is currently working on another film, "A Wrinkle in Time," where she also serves as writer. The pre-production for the movie is ongoing already.

Despite this, Lee is also actively working on the script for "Frozen 2." This is what voice cast member Kristen Bell, who plays Princess Anna in the film, revealed a few months back.

"They are not rushing the script. They have the luxury to not rush because everyone is going to be excited whether it comes out tomorrow or in five years," the "Bad Moms" star told IGN.

"They're making it as perfect as they need it to be and we're on call to start recording whenever," she went on to say.

Indeed, the success of the first "Frozen" film adds a ton of pressure to the cast and crew for the sequel to live up to the expectations of the audience.

A release date for "Frozen 2" is still not designated as it might still be too early in the development yet. Furthermore, Lee's team will want to make sure that the story for the follow-up will hold up.

Whether or not her involvement in "A Wrinkle in Time" will affect the development of "Frozen 2" remains unclear, although the writer is also the one set to put together the story for the "Frozen" Christmas Special.

The entire cast is expected to be back for this project. However, there are rumors that Idina Menzel is being replaced by either Demi Lovato or Taylor Swift will replace her.

Apart from the former's involvement in the franchise by singing a version of "Let It Go" that was sang by Menzel in the film, it looks like it will not extend to a role in the film. The same goes for Swift.

Besides, Menzel has been talking a lot about "Frozen 2," especially the direction the film is taking with her character in the highly anticipated film.

There have been rumors that the queen of Arendelle will have a female love interest, an idea that the actress has openly given an approval of.
