For Manny Pacquiao, facing off against unbeaten American boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a fulfillment not only for him but for his kids.
As it turns out, it was his son and daughter who egged him on, nagging him to fight the undefeated Mayweather. Wish granted.
With tickets hard to come by and complimentary ones a rarity, Pacquiao's scheduled tiff with Mayweather would be something that they would get to watch in the flesh since they would be among the select viewers at the front row of the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
In an interview with CNN, Pacquiao revealed how his kids really wanted the fight to happen.
"Three years ago [they said] 'Daddy, I want you to fight Mayweather. I want you to fight Mayweather.' I said, 'Why? It's not my fault. He doesn't want to fight.' And now finally now it finally happened. They really, really want to watch the fight."
The fight which is expected to break gate receipt records and is one of the most anticipated matches in boxing history. Both fighters are expected to come out richer than ever despite Mayweather getting a larger portion of the fight revenue.
Both fighters are now in deep training in preparation for the fight. A rare press conference reportedly open to accredited media groups only on March 11, will mark the first time both fighters will meet up face-to-face ever since that accidental meeting they had in South Beach.
With the popularity of both fighters, promotion is seen to be minimal, and the only other press conference expected is the final one before the actual fight on May 2.
There have been a lot of wild forecasts on who would win the bout, although Mayweather has received a lion-share of coming out the victor.
However, that doesn't discount Pacquiao from pulling off a stunner, something that many believe can happen and possibly hand Mayweather the first defeat of his colorful boxing career.
