Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao fight update: No rematch Clause puzzles Freddie Roach

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao will get it on in less than a week with both fighters claiming to be ready for the fight of the century.

Mayweather is a 2-1 favorite over Pacquiao but for trainer Freddie Roach, it puzzles him why Mayweather did not place a rematch clause for the upcoming bout.

Of course the initial belief is the Mayweather and his camp are pretty confident that Floyd Jr. will retain his undefeated record and defeat Pacquiao handily. However, it may be foolish to think that Pacquiao cannot pull off a reversal and hand Mayweather a loss.

Pacquiao is not an ordinary fighter. He has proven that he can get up and reclaim lost glory against the best boxers in the world and Mayweather is certainly not an exception.

The story could be of course different if Pacquiao would come out victorious. A rematch seems to be almost in order if Mayweather should lose.

With the current deal, Mayweather's camp is calling most of the shots for the said bout. The fight purse will be split 60-40 in favor of Mayweather and that is only one of the one-sided agreements to which Pacquiao and his camp agreed on.

So is Pacquiao and company looking for a rematch? Promoter Bob Arum bares that a rematch was the last thing they were concerned about. All they wanted was to get that chance to face Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his team in the ring.

Roach on the other hand is talking from a boxer's perspective. For someone who has been successful, he finds it odd for the undefeated boxer to exclude such a provision. Could his head be clouded by his success? Roach believes that being at the top can end sometime and he seems confident that will happen on May 2.

Then again, the two camps could sit down and renegotiate again for another round of talks if a rematch or sequel is in order. If that were the case, there could be a chance of making more money, something Mayweather may most likely be interested in if he still has the appetite to get into the ring after their megabout next weekend.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao clash on May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Don't miss it!
