Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather fight news: Fight staged at right time

In a rare press conference, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao once again came face-to-face to meet the press at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles before their much awaited bout on May 2, 2015 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

There were no fireworks and strangely a lot of respect between both fighters. With the popularity of both fighters, holding multiple press conferences was deemed unneeded leading up to the May 2 bout. The only other press conference expected between the two is perhaps the last one before the actual fight proper.

For his part, Mayweather did stress that their accidental meeting during a Miami Heat game was perhaps the one that made the fight happen. Though he reiterated that he had wanted the fight to happen in the past, he believes that the timing couldn't have been better.

Mayweather was curiously Mr. Nice Guy during the press conference which some folks don't buy. Is he trying to con Pacquiao into believing that he is actually a nice person and throw the Filipino off his fight plan?

As far as Pacquiao is concerned, training hard with Freddie Roach is his intent for now. And Roach believes that they have the perfect plan to hand Mayweather his first boxing career defeat.

However, Mayweather could be hiding some stuff and thus the reason for the nice guy and respectful image approach.

Of course this is not to take anything away from Mayweather. He could be sincere despite the apprehension by a lot of people who have followed him throughout his career. Regardless, Mayweather is expected to go all out for the win and keep his unblemished record.

For Pacquiao, it would be wise to keep himself focused and stay away from distractions. Less exposure would be better for the Filipino lawmaker, so as to keep Mayweather and company guessing what Pacquiao and Roach have up their sleeves.
