A new villain is set to turn up the heat in an upcoming spin-off of DC Comic-inspired series "The Flash" and "Arrow."
"Prison Break" actor Dominic Purcell was confirmed to be the latest addition to the growing super pack. Purcell plays the role of Mick Rory, also known as the Heat Wave in "The Flash." The pyromaniac had criminal escapades with the ever-elusive Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller), attempting to bring down the Scarlet Speedster by freezing and burning him at the same time. The last time the duo was seen in "The Flash" was during their escape from the police's clutches with the help of someone yet to be revealed in the series. Their story will continue to unfurl in an episode set to air next week, March 24.
Apart from Purcell and Miller, other confirmed stars and characters to be seen in the spin-off are "Arrow's" Atom played by Brandon Routh as well as Sara Lance a.k.a. Black Canary, who is played by Caity Lotz. Representing "The Flash" is Dr. Martin Stein, half of the powerful metahuman Firestorm played by Victor Garber. The spinoff will also debut three characters from the DC Comics who have yet to hit the small screen. Unfortunately, there is still no word as to who these mystery characters will be.
It was also teased by "Arrow" executive producer Greg Berlanti that a never-before seen villain will be making a glorious entrance to television through the show, and he will be "big." Berlanti also hinted the inclusion of a heroine in the team-up offshoot.
"I think it's really important that we have another female hero on the show, and this one is really exciting," Berlanti teased in a chat with Variety. "I can't wait for people to find out — we just have to cast it right, as always. And then you want that Rat Pack-y kind of vibe of all this crew hanging out, as disparate and as different as they are."
Berlanti, along with Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and Sarah Schechter are producing the spinoff.
