'Final Fantasy 15' release date rumors: Game still undergoing changes

 Square Enix

Although it has been confirmed that fans would still need to wait a little longer before the release, hardcore players are still waiting patiently for the next installment in the long-running "Final Fantasy" franchise.

Meanwhile, although the game is confirmed for a 2016 general release window, the "Final Fantasy XV" title is still undergoing changes, based on rumors and speculations online.

According to Master Herald, publisher and developer Square Enix is hard at work fine-tuning the gameplay and design aspects of the title, and one of the things that the development team is basing their changes upon are player feedback. In terms of gameplay, it is rumored that Square Enix will be making some changes from past iterations of the franchise, such as doing away with the automatic weapon switching feature during combat. This will make players concentrate more on releasing combos and performing high-damage and powerful attacks.

However, it is unclear if the feature was taken away from the title itself, or if Square Enix will have an option of turning it on for some players who prefer it.

Meanwhile, another rumor that continuously floats around is that "Final Fantasy XV" will feature female protagonists. Previous videos of the title have seen only male protagonists duking it out with some enemies. In addition, previous footage from the game and trailer videos only see female characters as support. However, Yibada quoted an earlier interview by Gematsu with director Hajime Tabata, who said, "It's possible we'll have female characters join the party as guests. But since it's an all-mate party, when you have a female character as a guest, their behavior might change because a woman is around."

Although no specific release window has yet been confirmed, fans may expect "Final Fantasy XV" to hit store shelves next year.
